While preparing to record my trio album 'Spry', I thought it would be helpful to send demos of these new tunes to my bassist and drummer, Larry Grenadier and Joey Baron. We weren't going to have time for a rehearsal before our first day in the studio. Larry and I live 100 miles apart, and Joey lives in Berlin.

I recorded these demos at home, on my iPhone. You can hear the metronome ticking in the background on some of these, and I make a few musical suggestions here and there. Everything was played on my Collings DS2H A SB.

Months after we recorded the trio album, I went back and listened to these demos, just for fun. Though they're imperfect, I found them surprisingly charming. I hope you'll enjoy them as well.
